Alivio will be celebrating its impact within Indiana communities regarding health and wellness over the last twenty years. We will highlight the positive effects of Alivio’s model on local communities and our plans to expand our mission of forward-thinking primary care.
Alivio’s 20th Anniversary symposium will present expert speakers in the fields of peripheral vascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, bioinformatics, and neurological interventional care in cardiovascular disease.
Among the presenters are Dr. Jerome Adams, 20th Surgeon General of the United States, as the keynote speaker of the symposium and world renown physician and entrepreneur, Alejandro Jadad.
In the past 150 years there have been twice as many U.S. Presidents as there have been confirmed Surgeon’s General. Dr. Adams served as just the 20th U.S. Surgeon General, and only the 2nd ever African American male in that role.
But his commitment to public health and health equity didn’t begin with Dr Adams tenure as the Nation’s doctor. A fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Dr. Adams received his Master’s Degree in Public Health over 2 decades ago at the University of California at Berkeley, with a focus on chronic disease prevention.
He worked in local public health at The City of Berkeley’s health department, as well as in State public health, where he ran the Indiana State Department of Health during Ebola, zika, and HIV crises.
Long a fixture within the organized medicine community, Dr. Adams has been a leader in numerous professional societies and has continued his anesthesia practice over the past 20 years, even while serving as Surgeon General.
Most recently, he became a Distinguished Professor, Presidential Fellow and Executive Director of Health Equity Initiatives at Purdue. But the accolade he’s most proud of is that of D.A.D.- being the first surgeon general in recent times to serve as the Nation’s doctor, while helping to raise school age children.
Dr. Jadad is a Canadian-Colombian physician, innovator, entrepreneur, and philosopher. His mission is to create the future of medicine and health. He leads initiatives with heads of state, multinational companies, entrepreneurs and scientists worldwide.
He obtained his medical degree from the Javeriana University in Colombia and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Balliol College, at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
He is the founder of the Center for Global eHealth Innovation in Toronto. This is a simulator to design and develop prototypes of the future. He is also the creator of the Jadad Scale, the most widely used tool in the world to assess the quality of controlled clinical trials, and the author of 11 books and hundreds of scientific publications.
10 professional doctors in different areas of medicine such as practice, internal medicine, jeriatrics, Radiology, Gastronteroloy and much more.
If you can’t attend the event, don’t worry, we will have the event live on this page and on our YouTube channel.
